Mesotherapy for skin rejuvenation: Things to know!

Today, there are numerous cosmetic treatments available for skincare concerns and signs of aging. Mesotherapy is one of them. For the unversed, mesotherapy involves using injections containing vitamins, hormones, enzymes, and other plant extracts, for skin rejuvenation. Mesotherapy can be used for a wide range of skin conditions, including removal of fat from different parts of the body. It is particularly useful for fading fine lines and wrinkles and for reducing pigmentation. In Quebec, clinics like Clinicare do offer this treatment, and before you consider the option, here are some things worth knowing.

What is the procedure like?

Mesotherapy involves using a series of injections, which are injected into the mesoderm of the skin (the middle layer), and hence the name. Mesotherapy was initially designed as a pain relief therapy, but is a popular skin rejuvenation technique today. The kind of injections used in mesotherapy may vary, and your doctor is the best person to take a call on that. In general, mesotherapy involves using enzymes, herbal extracts, vitamins, minerals, and selected hormones and medications. Most people need at least a few sessions to see the actual benefits of mesotherapy

Things to know

After the initial consultation, you will be asked to come for the actual procedure, and during the gap, you may be asked to avoid a few medications. In most cases, mesotherapy is done after applying a numbing cream, and it is possible that your doctor will use many injections at the same time. These injections in mesotherapy are given with a break, usually between a week to ten days. If your skin starts to show the signs of improvement early on, your doctor may decide to stretch the gap further. Note that mesotherapy is a noninvasive therapy, so there is no need to stay back at the clinic. There is no downtime either, and you can expect to continue with the day as usual. Note that having some redness, swelling, and mild pain at the sites of injections is common, and these side effects should fade away in a day or two.

Finding a clinic

If you are interested in mesotherapy and want to use it for skin rejuvenation, the first step is to find the right clinic. Make sure that you don’t compromise on this aspect, and always ask relevant questions related to the results, side effects, and procedure, in depth, to have a realistic idea of benefits.
